I will have HUC give me their final thoughts in the morning. They are on East Coast time. Their offices close at 3 pm EST, so we should make the decision of how to rank before then. There are a lot of great ideas up. I tried to put them all close to each other so we could compare the differences. I apologize I got the name of the fellowship wrong. My last note said the correct name -- and our final choices do need to have HUC - JIR. Thank you, Sara

I'm told the correct name of the program is:
The Star Cantorial Fellows Program
Can those I have ranked flip the language to say the correct name?
Thank you

One last idea:
Combining music with text. That could be:
1) Something musical with a book
2) Something musical with a Torah
If you look at the HUC - JIR logo, you will see it has Torah's in it.

Hello everyone,
We are getting close. We have some great concepts. I have contacted the designers that are left privately with our thoughts. We don't have anymore general thoughts for the group. Thank you once again for everyone's time. You are all incredibly talented. This is going to be a tough decision!
btw - HUC professionals are on east coast time and will leave by 3 pm on Friday. Final decisions will be made before they go home for the weekend.

As we look at these, we realized Israeli colors are blue and white. You may want references to a jewish star to be blue and white.
This is something to keep in mind as you are deciding where/how to balance the green/blue and white.
Thank you

We have given specific comments today to many of the artists. We looked at all the entries each artist made, and selected one entry for them to work with. We gave them our thoughts as to how to adapt/change that entry.
If you were not one of those artists, you can look at what we've ranked, but please keep in mind, what we've ranked will for many of the submissions change based on our comments.
Thank you so much again for your time, energy and creative talent. We clearly have a wealth of talent trying to help us.
Have a good rest of your weekend.
Best,
Sara

Hello everyone:
We hope you are having a good weekend. We have talked as a team and ranked. Please note, we have given feedback on just about every single ranked logo to the artist who submitted it. So, these logos are not quite where we'd like them to be. We may have asked the artist to:
simplify
play with colors
change symbols
change fonts
It may take until the next round for you to get a better idea of what we are looking for. Thank you for all your time and creative talent. We will give more general feedback when we see some that we feel will be helpful.
Than you,
Sara

Hello everyone: We hope the below notes will help you understand who this logo is for:
Main points for today:
A) Please look at this webpage:http://huc.edu/academics/become-cantor/cantorial-ordination/star-fellows-program. The winning logo will be on this webpage.
B) Cantors are clergy who sing at Jewish religious services. So, please add a musical reference/icon/symbol to your logo. We want to see how those look.
__________
1) Feel free to peruse the HUC website to get an idea of what the institution does. It trains reformed rabbis, cantors, educators and professionals going into the not for profit sector.
2) The reason the light bulb idea is out there is because these "star" students are selected after a rigorous application process to be part of a 3 year leadership program that will open their world to new ideas. It is not required that you use a light bulb. It was an idea.
3) We are not wedded to any particular symbols or concepts: Other ideas are:
a) Temples often have stained glass windows -- a take on that could be beautiful.
b) A temple "houses" students, faith, ideas, education, future leaders, spirituality: Maybe there could be a play on the H as a house for the cantors. please disregard this idea if it gets too complicated.
We like simplicity The current HUC logo is a very busy logo. We are trying to create a really tasteful, simple logo.
There is a Tisch Fellows Program that this program piggy backs. The Tisch Fellows are rabbinical students. The Star Fellows are Cantorial students. The students are both in the program together, but there is a separate selection process for each.
Here is the link to the Tisch Fellows should that help you understand what these fellows do in their program.

I would like it if designers could try to mimic the style of this Georgetown logo. http://imgur.com/BobDeYe
1. replace gtown with "HUC - JIR"
2. Replace biz skills with "Star Fellows Cantorial program"
3. add the icon of your design into the middle

Welcome and Thank You for Choosing LogoContest.com!
Here are some helpful hints to make sure you get the most out of our site, and your contest.
DO NOT FINALIZE YOUR CONTEST UNTIL ALL REVISIONS ARE MADE AND THE EXACT DESIGN YOU WANT IS SHOWING AND SELECTED.
1. Please rank your submissions or post general comments a minimum of 1 time per day while your contest is running. This is required should you want to request an extension to your contest and will produce the best results from our designers.
2. Once your contest receives 40 design concepts, your prize amount will become "Guaranteed".
3. Please make the most out of our messaging and comment systems.
a) Place general comments on this main contest page to give all of the designers your preferences and what you would like to see or not see.
b) Clicking on any designers submssion will bring up a page of all submissions by that designer with an option to post private comments pertaining only to his work. (Only the contest Holder and that designer can view and post to this page)
c) Clicking on the designer username under a submission will allow you to send a completely private message to that specific designer.
4. Please "Eliminate" only those logo designs that you feel have no chance of winning your contest. (Be aware that eliminating everything may discourage participation from the designers.)
5. Please rank the designs 1 to 10 and there are also options to rank Elements you like, Colors you like, and Fonts you like. This will help guide the designers toward the design that you are looking for. For the best variety of designs, try not to keep the same design ranked #1 for an extended time as this may result in copying of that design.
6. We require that you do not ask one Designer to use elements or concepts from another Designer. The general rule is that, if a Designer was the first to use and submit the idea in one of their designs, they essentially own that concept or idea for the remainder of the contest. We will remove any deisgns that use copied concepts. Requests or ideas you have put in your Contest Brief or posted as contest attachments are fair game and open to everyone. Concepts that are considered obvious will also be fair game, for example: a dog & cat for a pet hospital, shopping bag for an e-commerce company, a tooth for a dentist, initials for a lawyer, etc.
7. Once your contest ends and is in judging mode, any designer that is ranked #1 #2 #3 #4 or #5 will be able to upload any revisions you request. Simply rank a designers entry to allow revisions to be uploaded.
Discussion Guidelines:
1. Designers and Contest Holders please always be respectful of each other, we all have the same goal.
2. Please do not criticize any design publicly, these discussions should only be held in private.
3. Designers may not post any external links to any designs.
4. Please do not ask a contest holder to view your designs or discuss any other designs.
5. Designers can not discuss copied designs on the contest pages and may submit a Logo Dispute to the Admin only.
Our team at LogoContest.com as well as our designers will make sure you are 100% satisfied and want you to leave here with a design that you love!
Please recommend us to your friends and business associates for all of their logo design and web page design needs.
