There are interesting new ones today. Thank you! We plan to rank logos tonight, with the contest winding down. We then will ask a few others in our group to look at the ranked ones before we make a final decision. Please check back after tonight for more information from us.

We have a position reaction to #64, 65 and 67 in part because they remind us of the stars of David that are cut in "negative space" into the doors that lead to our social hall and sanctuary area. I've therefore uploaded a photo of one, though it got distorted when uploaded to this site.

#64, 65 and 67 are interesting. Particularly I like how 64 takes us in some slightly new color directions too.

In the creative brief I mentioned "People responded well to options with a sense of movement to them--for example, images that felt like flames, pathways and leaves with movement to them." As I am not sure this was well understood, I have uploaded an example of what we were playing with in this regard, just as a jumping off point for anyone who might want to go in this direction. As you can see, it was just roughly done and the fonts are not the type that we want, but it gives you an idea of this type of concept.

We like the weight and side of the font in #56.

#50 and #52 do not work for us.
We like #51 -- could we see this in sans serif, upper/lower case font?
#45: We like this one, and find the third color pretty, but we feel we need to stick with 2 colors for some practical reasons. We are a small, budget-constrained organization; we may use grayscale or b/w sometimes, and we tend to print color in-house where we can't calibrate perfectly. We know it will lose something--but can you try to do the menorah as white (knock-out) rather than in a third color?
#47 has way too much going on.
#48 does not appeal to us. Too angular for the humanistic look that seems to work for us, and reminds us of the Chabad menorah.
#49 is a nice variation on #19. We still like both, and having both a stacked and a horizontal approach to consider. The circle brings in the sense of community and the Jewish concept of cyclicality, and the mark works nicely on its own with the circle.
The COLORS in #40 work very well.
#43 has an issue with how the words are bumping up against that tree. With the tag running under the tree (which is nice), it lowers the name of the temple. Such a wide font therefore seems to push up against the wide part of the tree uncomfortably.

Here's what we'd like to see pursued from these:
#27 This is an option for us to consider if we decide to go with a more traditional approach--yet fresh. But we would like to seen the green in this deepened a bit (more earthy).
#33 This is nicely balanced, it's nice to have the tree emerging from the green of the tag line--like it's growing from something. And symbolically it's fitting that the people are emerging from the word community. I also like #35 though, but he does need to align the tag to be justified with the name above it. We'd like to see this with a somewhat deeper color (the one used in #35 works better). Also, we'd like to see the tag line with dots centered between the words, rather than periods.
#35 It works nicely. We like the color. However, we'd like to see the tag line right-left justified in alignment with the name above it.
#23 It offers a fresh approach, with the community of people and the interesting start of David. We'd like to see the deeper/earthier green here, and the upper/lower case sans serif font.
#19 We continue to like this as it is.
As these become further refined, at the end of the content period we will share a top set with a wider group of us and then make a selection.

There are some interesting new options--great response to yesterday's feedback.

- While we were intrigued by the idea of the ladder, we ended up eliminating these because we could not see the ladder marks standing on their own, apart from the logotype--they would seem to go nowhere.
- We would like to see only sans serif, humanistic fonts in upper/lower case. Serifs and all-upper case are not working for us.
- It's important that the logos scale. In some cases, the marks are too small relative to the name for them to be easily seen when scaled small. Some others are just too complicated to scale small.
- #24 is very interesting with the people as part of the tree. It speaks to Tree of life / community / growth / rootedness, all in one image. But the serif font doesn't appeal to us, and we'd love to see this side-by-side with the name, instead of stacked. We like the overall feel of the options that have the logo to the left of the name, with the tagline horizontal below the name. On several we also like the horizontal rules that go with the tagline.
- We'd like to see the purples deep (we like the bluish purple in #4, though otherwise it does not work for us)
- We'd like to see the greens deeper, too--these feel sort of lime or neon green--we'd like it to be more earthy.

Overall, the ladders are not working for us because we do not feel the marks would stand well on their own (in addition to being paired with the logotype). More feedback to come later...

#9 and #15 are interesting in how they show unity/community, and how the mark can work with or independent of the logotype portion. I'd like to see some type of Jewish imagery incorporated. For example, in #9 the "tree" image in the middle could have more of a menorah shape. I'm not sure how to incorporate it in #15, but I do like this option visually very much.

#9 is an interesting addition. I like the organic feel of the mark; would like to understand more about the intended symbolism.

Also, #8 is interesting to us. The design has movement, rambam's ladder suggests a number of things--growing to the future, our work in social justice, on a path together. Also like the color combination. The knockout of the tag line from that particular green makes it very hard to read.

to me
#5 We like the color combinations, but the hands look a little juvenile to some of us and--as noted yesterday--it doesn't say Jewish clearly
#7: All the angles and corners feel a little too busy and hard-edged (not so welcoming). Also hard to see the star of david because of the subtle contrasts (which also may have scaling issues).
We're liking purples. Those that feel close to blue seem good for having the Jewish associate that many find in blue, while the purple still feels warm. Others of us, however, are interested in seeing some deeper and/or royal blues as an alternative we can assess.
I’d like to see something in more of deep purple such as RGB #400080 or royal purple #7851A9

Entry #1 - There's no need to incorporate the Hebrew of the name; thanks for asking, and for pointing out the use of 18 leaves. One of us doesn't find it particularly Jewish, another of us sees the tree of life. We like how the movement takes the viewer to the name (which also confirms the Jewish connection) and it looks like an embrace (e.g., welcoming).
Entry #2 feels too typical. Color and font are nice.
Entry #3 Looks like a cross, despite the mogen david hidden in the middle of it. The flame makes it look more like a cigarette (not seeing it as the eternal light).
Entry #4 - while one of us saw a pomegranate (some Jewish connection), one saw a pineapple...also, more like a still-life than the sense of growth/movement that could come from incorporating a living theme. The design of the fruit is too busy for us, plus that would create scaling issues.
Generally--the sans serif fonts are working better for suggesting welcoming/humanity.

Welcome and Thank You for Choosing LogoContest.com!
Here are some helpful hints to make sure you get the most out of our site, and your contest.
DO NOT FINALIZE YOUR CONTEST UNTIL ALL REVISIONS ARE MADE AND THE EXACT DESIGN YOU WANT IS SHOWING AND RANKED #1.
1. Please rank your submissions or post general comments a minimum of 1 time per day while your contest is running. This is required should you want to request an extension to your contest and will produce the best results from our designers.
2. Once your contest receives 40 design concepts, your prize amount will become "Guaranteed".
3. Please make the most out of our messaging and comment systems.
a) Place general comments on this main contest page to give all of the designers your preferences and what you would like to see or not see.
b) Clicking on any designers submssion will bring up a page of all submissions by that designer with an option to post private comments pertaining only to his work. (Only the contest Holder and that designer can view and post to this page)
c) Clicking on the designer username under a submission will allow you to send a completely private message to that specific designer.
4. Please "Eliminate" only those logo designs that you feel have no chance of winning your contest. (Be aware that eliminating everything may discourage participation from the designers.)
5. Please rank the designs 1 to 10 and there are also options to rank Elements you like, Colors you like, and Fonts you like. This will help guide the designers toward the design that you are looking for. For the best variety of designs, try not to keep the same design ranked #1 for an extended time as this may result in copying of that design.
6. We require that you do not ask one Designer to use elements or concepts from another Designer. The general rule is that, if a Designer was the first to use and submit the idea in one of their designs, they essentially own that concept or idea for the remainder of the contest. We will remove any deisgns that use copied concepts. Requests or ideas you have put in your Contest Brief or posted as contest attachments are fair game and open to everyone. Concepts that are considered obvious will also be fair game, for example: a dog & cat for a pet hospital, shopping bag for an e-commerce company, a tooth for a dentist, initials for a lawyer, etc.
7. Once your contest ends and is in judging mode, any designer that is ranked #1 #2 #3 #4 or #5 will be able to upload any revisions you request. Simply rank a designers entry to allow revisions to be uploaded.
Discussion Guidelines:
1. Designers and Contest Holders please always be respectful of each other, we all have the same goal.
2. Please do not criticize any design publicly, these discussions should only be held in private.
3. Designers may not post any external links to any designs.
4. Please do not ask a contest holder to view your designs or discuss any other designs.
5. Designers can not discuss copied designs on the contest pages and may submit a Logo Dispute to the Admin only.
Our team at LogoContest.com as well as our designers will make sure you are 100% satisfied and want you to leave here with a design that you love!
Please recommend us to your friends and business associates for all of their logo design and web page design needs.
