The Contest Brief

Contest Holder Name:  healthcarehumor

Company Name: Healthcare Humor

Company Slogan:

Description and What We Do: I am a professional speaker and comedian, specializing in doing presentations for healthcare professionals. If you visit my website, www.HealthcareHumor.com, you will get a very detailed idea of what I do....and see our current logo. (I'll also attach it in the brief.) I am looking for a new, updated logo. While the current logo is good, the 'cartoon snake' in it (a creative version of a medical symbol) is a little too 'silly' or 'cartoony' for my clients. My prospects are often CEO's of hospitals or Executive Directors of medical associations, so I need the logo to have somewhat more of a business feel, but must also project a sense of fun or excitement. However, the 'fun' element of the logo can't be too loud or bold--it needs to be subtle. I would love the logo to produce a smile on someone's face, as they think, "Oh, that's clever" or "Oh, that looks fun." There are many ways to approach this logo. Possible elements, in addition to the words, could be something related to a speaker presenting a program. (Perhaps a microphone.) Or, perhaps using a medical symbol or graphic. (For example, an EKG graph, a stethescope, a blood pressure cuff, a syringe, the letters Rx, etc., etc. Those are just a few off the top of my head, but I'm not specifically looking for any of those.) The winning design may end up not having anything like that. Again, I can't reiterate enough--the logo must look professional--with a dash of something that graphically says 'humor', but done in a subtle way.

Industry Type: Medical

Top Three Things To Communicate Through Our Logo Design:

#1 Professionalism & Trustworthy

#2 Comic relief from the stress of working in healthcare

#3 Now THIS is something we could use!

Our Target Audience:

Top management and meeting planners in the healthcare industry. Most are middle-aged. Meeting planners tend to be female and Healthcare executives tend to be male, so we have to appeal to both. Most will be college-educated. Their jobs are very stressfull, so the logo must catch their eyes as something that might help relieve that stress.

Dear Designers,

As the contest comes to a close, let me say THANK YOU for all of your great designs. This has been a real joy to see all of your creativity and hard work. I had the pleasure of working with some of you more closely to tweak some of the logos I liked the most and I appreciate your responses and follow-through.

After the contest ends, it make take me a little while to make my final decision. I have a group who will be helping me review the logos--but ultimately the final decision will be mine.

So don't be concerned if you don't see a winner announced immediately---it may take me a little while to do so.

Thank you again. For those of you who celebrate Christmas, have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to all of you!

Dear Designers:

Wow! Thank you for all the latest greatest designs that came in during the last 12 hours. Most of the designs are great just the way they are, but I may want to send some private messages to some of you if I want to see any adjustments--but I know many of you are in different time zones. I'm just looking at the new ones now and will send out all messages within the next hour. Hopefully, that will give you time to make any adjustments.

OK, you've done all the hard work. Now let me get to work and review all the new ones.

Thanks!

Dear Designers:

Thank you all so much for the hard work and amazing creativity you've been showing in your entires! I really appreciate the designs that have been coming in.

We're down to one day left in the contest and I would just offer these last few thoughts based on what I've seen coming in

While I do like many of the designs with a microphone, that is not something I necessarily see for the logo. It's one element that works very well---and there are some amazing designs that have included it and are currently ranked very high---but there are LOTS of other possible ways to go on this logo.

So while I still welcome and encourage any new or novel ideas that include a microphone, I would love to see any new designs that go a different direction.

Think of other things that might graphically display the world of healthcare. I don't think anyone has submitted a design with a thermometer or a band-aid or a bottle of pills or a syringe (as long as the needle doesn't look too scary for a logo!). I'm not suggesting that you use any of those--I'm just saying to open your minds to the possiblity of other ways to go to graphically display Healthcare Humor.

Also, most of you have been doing a great job in making the words in the logo very easy to read. This is important to me. I want someone who is seeing the logo for the very first time to be able to read it instantly.

Again, my thanks for all of your great designs. I look forward to seeing what you submit during this last day!

Hi designers. Thanks for all the latest designs! There is some very, very creative work! A few new thoughts as I've seen more designs come in:

1. Please don't try to put in too many elements into the design. If you look at the designs of the current top-ranked entries, you'll see most of them just have one or two elements. It doesn't mean the elements you design have to be simple--they can be very intricate. But if you look at many of the designs that have been eliminated, it's because they had four or five elements all crammed into the logo--which becomes too overwelming to look at.

2. Please don't use the round end of the stethescope as the "o" in Humor. That particular design doesn't work for me.

3. We've had very few entries that fall into the "Shield or Emblem" mark category. While I know those are not typically the most common logos, don't be afraid to try one. Done correctly, it may be just the perfect logo!

4. I know that designs with blue and green are getting a lot of high marks, but I think red could also possibly work well for this logo.

5. Again, even though I want a 'corporate' feel for the logo, you can still look for a clever way to display that. My ultimate goal is for the logo to be easy to read, look business or corporate, but have an element in there that makes someone smile or laugh when they see it.

Thanks again, everyone, for all your hard work. I look forward to seeing what comes in during the last few days!

Dear Designers,

Thank you for all the designs so far! We've got over 40 now, so we're "Official"! A few thoughts that might help you, as I've seen the designs come in:

1. If you're going to submit a design in a reverse, let me see the same design not in a reverse, also. The design has to work for me on a plain white background--and if it can look great as a reverse, that's a bonus!

2. If you're going to do something creative to any of the letters in "Healthcare" or "Humor", please make the letters still very easy to read. You'll see most of my top rankings are ones where the words are easy to read. When someone is seeing the logo for the very first time--and for a fraction of a second--I want them to be able to easily read it.

3. Don't be hesitant to try some new designs or graphic elements. I do like the ones I've ranked high so far--but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see some new elements, other than the smile or the EKG. Maybe consider some other medical symbols, like a pill/capsule, the letters Rx(perhaps the x could be on the existing R in Healthcare or Humor) ,a thermometer, a bandage, etc. Or the use of a microphone, which some of you have already done, or something to connect the words to my show, could work. As you'll see though, most of my top rankings so far have these elements as subtle and understated. I think the logo can be clever and subtle at the same time.

Thanks so much. If I think of any more general comments, I'll post them here for you!

Welcome and Thank You for Choosing LogoContest.com!

Here are some helpful hints to make sure you get the most out of our site, and your contest.

1. Please rank your submissions or post general comments a minimum of 1 time per day while your contest is running. This is required should you want to request an extension to your contest and will produce the best results from our designers.

2. Once your contest receives 40 design concepts, your prize amount will become "Guaranteed".

3. Please make the most out of our messaging and comment systems.

a) Place general comments on this main contest page to give all of the designers your preferences and what you would like to see or not see.

b) Clicking on any designers submssion will bring up a page of all submissions by that designer with an option to post private comments pertaining only to his work. (Only the contest Holder and that designer can view and post to this page)

c) Clicking on the designer username under a submission will allow you to send a completely private message to that specific designer.

4. Please "Eliminate" only those logo designs that you feel have no chance of winning your contest. (Be aware that eliminating everything may discourage participation from the designers.)

5. Please rank the designs 1 to 10 and there are also options to rank Elements you like, Colors you like, and Fonts you like. This will help guide the designers toward the design that you are looking for. For the best variety of designs, try not to keep the same design ranked #1 for an extended time as this may result in copying of that design.

6. We require that you do not ask one Designer to use elements or concepts from another Designer. The general rule is that, if a Designer was the first to use and submit the idea in one of their designs, they essentially own that concept or idea for the remainder of the contest. We will remove any deisgns that use copied concepts. Requests or ideas you have put in your Contest Brief or posted as contest attachments are fair game and open to everyone. Concepts that are considered obvious will also be fair game, for example: a dog & cat for a pet hospital, shopping bag for an e-commerce company, a tooth for a dentist, initials for a lawyer, etc.

7. Once your contest ends and is in judging mode, any revisions to designs that you request from the designers can be emailed to support AT(@) logocontest.com and we will enter them into your contest for you.

Discussion Guidelines:

1. Designers and Contest Holders please always be respectful of each other, we all have the same goal.

2. Please do not criticize any design publicly, these discussions should only be held in private.

3. Designers may not post any external links to any designs.

4. Please do not ask a contest holder to view your designs or discuss any other designs.

5. Designers can not discuss copied designs on the contest pages and may submit a Logo Dispute to the Admin only.

Our team at LogoContest.com as well as our designers will make sure you are 100% satisfied and want you to leave here with a design that you love!

Please recommend us to your friends and business associates for all of their logo design and web page design needs.
